Lafayette County, Mississippi was created in 1836. Most of the County records survived the Civil War burning of the courthouse in Oxford and are in reasonably good condition. However, the earliest records (1836-1847) are lost. This first volume of marriages of the two volume set covers the years 1848-1881. Book 2 picks up there and covers 1881-1900.
